Central San, a progressive public utility, is seeking an Environmental Compliance Inspector I/II. This position will perform inspections, investigations, sampling, and other work related to enforcing local, State, and Federal standards for wastewater discharge. In addition, responsibilities include performing pretreatment, storm water, and/or pollution prevention and investigations, as well as, providing technical assistance to customers and public agencies.
Eligible to apply for advancement to the level II position ($4,707.71- $5,692.14 Biweekly) after 18 months.
Education:
Completion of 60 semester units from an accredited college which included completion of two (2) college-level courses from any of the following disciplines: organic and inorganic chemistry, hazardous materials technology, environmental science, water/wastewater, or related field.
Experience:
One (1) year of full-time experience performing professional inspection/compliance duties in wastewater operations or similar field.
Substitution:
A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a closely related field may be substituted for the one year of required experience.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
Possession of an Environmental Compliance Inspector Grade I certificate issued by the California Water Environment Association within two (2) years of appointment.
Possession of a Pretreatment Facility Inspection Certificate issued by Sacramento State University within two (2) years of appointment.
Possession of a Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Certificate shall be obtained within one (1) year of appointment.
